as seen in STAR WARS “a new hope”
converting the 1:48 Fine Molds kit into ILM style hero X-Wing
Red Two: What a task! The Red 2 X-Wing was originally built as Blue One and later converted into Red Two.
Since it is the first X-Wing built by ILM in 1976, it is A LOT different from the other so called “hero” X-Wings for “a new hope”.
The Fine Molds 1:48 kit I think has been based upon the large X-Wing model that was never actually seen in any of the movies. So I had to face major obstacles when trying to get as close to Red 2 as possible.
This is my first model with 3D-printed parts. Some of the kit parts did not match the details, or size that I wanted so with the help of my friend Christian Fröhlich we had the droidstrip, backplate and engine nozzles done in 3D-print.
This also was the test-run for more 3D-printed parts/products that later got used on my Red 5 and other models….
